Book Review: Crushing the Cup 2011

The Handicapper’s Guide to Breeders’ Cup XXVIII by Jim Mazur and Peter Mallett, updated for 2011. An excellent publication for anybody wanting to bet the tough Breeders’ Cup races at Churchill Downs and for newer horseplayers wanting to learn more about the use of angles and biases when handicapping a race.

2011 Gallant Bloom Handicap

2011 Little Brown Jug

At the Delaware County Fair in Ohio, heavy favorite Big Bad John (right) won his heat and the final to capture the 66th edition of the $526,800 Little Brown Jug, the second leg of Pacing’s Triple Crown. Three years ago today

Big Brown (right) won the Monmouth Stakes, which was the last time a Kentucky Derby winner won another race after the Derby! Since Mine That Bird and Super Saver are retired, we can hope Animal Kingdom comes back next year and breaks the drought, or we may have to wait until the next Derby winner.
