Two past Canadian Horses of the Year, With Approval and Wake at Noon, passed away on June 28 and 29 of 2010, adding a sad note to this year Queen’s Plate. With Approval won the Canadian Triple Crown in 1989 and was named Horse of the Year. Wake at Noon (right) was a stakes winner at ages 3 through 6 and was named Horse of the Year in 2002.
Sportswriter won the $1.5 million North America Cup for 3-year-old pacers by 3/4 length over longshot We Will See while favorite Rock N Roll Heaven finished fourth.
